1800年代のBlouseやJeansのボタンホール　
恐らくまだホールミシンが無い時代。
もしくは工場では無くて、仕立て屋さんが作ってて、テーラーメード色の強い頃、ボタンホールは手縫いで作られてます。
新品でその時代のジーンズを再現するときはTCBでも過去のPleated Blouseを作った時は通称眠り穴と言われる71ミシンを使ったシャツのボタンホールを採用しました。
（本家が再現する時もシャツのボタンホールを多用する事が多いと思います。）

社内でVintageを囲んでディテールの再現をどうしようか？って悩んでた時に、
『この手縫いのホールカッコいいよね』
『でも強度が絶対ないよ』
っていう会話の中で今回も71ホールで進行しようと思ってたんですが、
その前に児島で特殊屋さんと言われる、ボタンホールやリベット、ボタンのみを承る会社が有ります。
そこの社長に流石に140年前には生きてない方ですが、50年以上ボタンホールミシンの前が定位置の方だと良いアドバイスを頂けないかとVintageを見せて相談する事にしてみました。
そうすると手縫いは絶対に現実的では無いけど面白いミシンが有るよ！
と工場に転がってた要らない生地にボタンホールを開けてくれました。
縫い上がったホールを観るとビックリでミシンなので強度も問題なく、表情も手縫いに近くVintageの雰囲気にとても近い。
自社工場が売りのTCBですがデメリットとしては鎖国状態で先人との何気ない会話からヒントを頂くケースが少なく反省。
Vintageを直接観て頂いて良かったと私もこの特殊なミシンも喜んでおります。
この荒くて手縫い風のボタンホールを留める瞬間を楽しみにして頂ければと思います。

The button holes on the vintage jeans and jackets from 1800s and it’s when the button hole sewing machines didn’t exist so that all button holes were basically hand sewn.
In the common way to do a reproduction in the denim industry, we use so-called 71 button holes. (Levis use 71 button holes for their own reproduction as well)

But our friend, Viktor, wanted it true to the vintage. But from the manufacturing point of view, we can’t do hand-sewn button holes in terms of its durability as a product as well as the production efficiency so we started to find any good way. Kojima is a denim city so there are plenty of men with knowledge and there are small factories who only do the button & rivet attaching process since it’s one of the most laborious and time consuming part of manufacturing. The owner guy has sit in front of the button hole machines for more than 50 years and he had the best sewing machine that’s been not used over decades.
