今日はVintageのUSNのDECKJKを観ながら娘と企画会議。
I had a product meeting with my daughter to check out the vintage USN Deck Jacket.

娘『パパがこれを着てるの観た事無いよ！』
私『昔着てたけど、サイズアウトして入らないだけだよ』
My Daughter: Hey, I’ve never seen you wearing this jacket!
Me: I used to but the jacket got too small for me, a bit..

娘『パパ海軍のデッキパンツは裾を結んだら浮き輪になるよ』
私『ドナルドダックも海軍だよ』
My Daughter: Hey dad, I heard that if you tie up the legs of these deck pants they work as a swim ring. is that true?
Me: Yeah it’s true. Did you know Donald Duck is a sailor?

娘『パパ　私のサイズで作った時にUNION SPECIALの43200Gで縫える？あのミシン裾幅が細すぎると縫えないよね？』
私『裏に返してから縫えば行けると思うよ』
My Daughter: Hey dad, do you think you can sew my size with Union Special 43200G? if the leg opening is too small, the machine won’t work, will it?
Me: If I turned the pants inside out, I think I can do it.

娘『パパ生地は10ozが良いよね。この頃の未熟な紡績技術を再現してネップも出して』
私『3×1より2×1にしようね』
My daughter: hey dad, I like this 10OZ fabric. please get some more neppy feeling to reflect the immature spinning techniques back then
Me: Of course. I prefer to have the fabric in the 3*1 structure to 2*1.

Vintageを参考に糸の色を決める/ Deciding the colors of the threads, referring to the vintage.
娘『パパ古着はステッチがグレーに見えるけど、一部解くと褪色する前のステッチが出てきてブラックが良いと思うよ。物によってはステッチがベージュっぽいVintageも有るよね。ミリタリーは納入業者が変わると微妙に仕様が違うのが面白いね』
私『最近はUJカタンよりグンゼカタンの方が好きだな』

My Daughter: Hey dad, the thread color on the vintage looks it’s all in gray but I took our some threads from the inner side but they actually used to be black! They look gray but they faded to gray. I’ve seen some vintages sewn with beige threads too. It’s really interesting because the details change for military goods depending on which supplier made them.

Me: Yeah let’s use the black threads from Gunze because their threads work better with our old machines.

娘『パパ私の小指の運命の赤い糸は誰と繋がってるかな？』
私『きっとパパとだと思うよ ほら０番手の太い糸 40年代後半のXXの小股より太い糸で繋がってる笑』
※In Japan, we call a mate of fate as a mate who is connected by a red string.
My Daughter: Hey dad, who do you think has the red string for me?
Me: I think it’s dad! Look, this thick O-number thread, much tougher and thicker thread than the thread used on the crotch of the XX from 40’s.

初めて娘に糸のサンプル帳を見せたのですが目を輝かせながら観てました。
一言で青や赤と言っても沢山の色が有る事に驚いた事でしょう。
彼女の名前はフラワーモチーフでこの歌を思い出しちゃいますね。
Kids spoiling part done! I showed her the thread sample book but seems she liked it so much.
She must have been surprised to see so many colors even in a single color category. Her name is stemmed from a
flower so I’d like to quote the lyrics from this song to conclude the blog of today..
