私のサイズ40は需要が少ないのか30’sJeans穿くなら良いですよ！と会社から許可が出たので職権濫用で早速裾上げ。

当たり前ですが自分の分は計測もユニオンスペシャルも自分でやります。
実はS40’sもサスペンダーボタンを付けて穿いてた私は30’sにもサスペンダーを取り付けて穿く事にしました。
理由はMOTOさんが作ってくれたサスペンダーを吊ってMOTOさんみたいに30’sなんだけどサスペンダー仕様として穿きたかったから。
サスペンダーとベルトループの話って面白くて1922年に501にベルトループが付きますよね。
サスペンダーボタンが取れる1937年までの15年。移行期と言われる時期が結構長いなと思いました。
赤タブが付きコンシールリベットに変わった後も、恐らくワーカーの中にはサスペンダーで吊り続けた人が居たのでしょう。後付け用のサスペンダーボタンをLeviが取扱店に配布してる資料を見た事が有ります。
私はこの場所で当時の労働者階級の話を掘り下げようとは思いませんが、ベルトの歴史は装飾品だったりミリタリーだったりと地位を表す要素が強く中々ジーンズに定着しなかったのかな？と妄想が始まります。
日本でもチョンマゲの時代が終わったのに中々断髪出来ずに結い続けた人もきっと居ますよね。
いつの時代も歴史を変えると言うことは時間が掛かるんだなと、サスペンダーボタンを6個打ち込みながらマスク期を生きる私はシミジミと考えました。

Maybe my size 40 inch is in much less demand as a size sample so maybe I will start wearing 30’s Jeans and please don’t say　it’s an abuse of power, haha. I make jeans myself so I of course hem my jeans myself. I attached the suspender buttons with my ex pair, S40’s Jeans, and I did the same to my new jeans too. Last year when I met Moto-san, he was styling his 30’s vintage Levis 501 with suspenders and I wanted to try the same style. The story of suspenders and belt loops is quite interesting. It’s said that the belt loops started to be attached to jeans from 1922. Until 1937, it took 15 years for jeans to completely loose the suspender buttons but isn’t it a bit long as a transition period? During the 15 years, the red tab appeared, and then the rivets were concealed but maybe some jeans fans liked the suspender style. Looking at the history of belts, it started as an ornament and then the belt style was adopted by aristocrats or military so it was a kind of symbol for high-class people, which didn’t match with denim? (all my guess)

Speaking of the similar thing in Japan, have you heard of Chonmage, the mainstream hairstyle before Meiji era?
Even after 1871 when the hairstyle was banned, many people still liked the style. As I was attaching the suspender buttons to my jeans, I was feeling like hm maybe it takes time to change the standard. Even the Corona pandemic is ceasing, many people still wear a facial mask and it proves the fact huh?
