自分はミーハー格闘技ファンなので毎年大晦日に紅白を観たい家族の眼差しを無視して自分のチャンネルを死守する事が毎年の最後の闘いになります。

さて
天心VSタケル戦は私も7年近く待ち望んでた戦いとなります。
そこで大人の事情はよく分かりませんが天心選手が興味深い投稿をインスタグラムに上げてましたので紹介します

たまたまつけたテレビで人生が変わることもあるし
俺は地上波で 格闘技を見てキックボクシングを始めた だから最後は絶対にテレビでやらないと恩返しが出来ない
この試合を見て格闘技を始める人、何でもいいから何かを始める人 沢山居ると思う
そのきっかけになりたい….
と続きます。
どの世代を思春期として過ごすのかで受け取る感覚は大分違うのでしょうが、生意気ながらにも私にも当てはめて考えてみました。

私は田舎に育ち、別に両親が洋服に拘りが有った訳でも無く、一人っ子でした。
そんな中ジーンズのとの出会いは偶然本屋さんで手に取った雑誌の小さな特集でした。
その１冊の本が全てを変えたとは言いませんが変えてしまうキッカケになったのは間違い有りません。
子供たちにいきなり夢を持ちなさいとか言ってしまうのは残酷で
たまたまつけたテレビやたまたま開いた本に可能性を感じさせる事が大事なのかな？
って思います。
もちろんそれがこれからの時代はPPVや電子書籍なんでしょうが、興味ない子供がいきなりPPVを購入するかといえば疑問だしジーンズに興味が無い人がオンラインでジーンズの本をサーチしないですよね。
AIのアルゴリズムでおすすめを紹介してくれたりターゲティング広告なんてのも有るんでしょうが、先述した出会いとはやっぱり違うよなと感じるのは私が昭和なオジサンなだけでしょうか？

これからも世界のマニアックな人たちを唸らすジーンズを作って行きたいけど、
子供たちも唸らしてみたいなと思う
そんな闘いでした。
私が10代の時に読んだ雑誌の世界の憧れの回収の過程の中で私自身も雑誌に登場させて頂く様になり不思議な気持ちですが
10-20年後に、あの記事をたまたま読んで職業を決めました！
なんて人が出てきたら私もジーンズと雑誌に恩返しが少しは出来るんだと思います。

When it comes to martial arts, I might be a bit of a groupie but it’s always the last battle of a year for me to win a war over a TV channel against my family wanting to watch Kouhaku Uta Gassen (Red & White Year-end Song Festival).
*It is the annual contest between male and female teams of popular singers on New Year’s Eve. To watch this at home doing nothing really is what most Japanese do at the end of a year as the symbol of another peaceful year passing by.

Well, I’d been dreaming of this match between Tenshin Nasukawa VS Takeru for 7 years now. I’m not too familiar with grown-up things in the martial arts industry but Tenshin posted an interesting story so let me show you it.
He says in the video, “You happen to watch a match on TV and that might be the trigger to change your whole life. I happened to watch some boxing matches on TV and that triggered me to start kickboxing so that I want my match to be aired on TV. There must be many people who feel motivated to start boxing or to start something new for them. I just want to deliver some motivation to people.”

Depending on what you think or your personality, how you take these words might vary but let me talk about my own case.

I was born in a very rural city and was an only child for my parents who were not really interested in clothings. In my youth, I happened to flip some pages on a fashion magazine at a local bookshop and that was my first contact with denim.
I don’t say the one book changed my whole life but it was definitely the first trigger to change my whole life.

I think it’s cruel to tell your children ” Have a dream and just go for it” but I think we should show children many possibilities and help them try many things when they happen to feel interested in something.

Time has changed and nowadays Pay Per View or e-books are the mainstream but unless you are very interested I don’t think you’ll buy the PPV or if you are not interested in jeans you won’t search for any jeans magazines, right?
Someone might say “Hey, there is something very useful called “Search Algorism” and it does the job instead but I feel it lacks the beauty of contingency… I might be so old that I feel this way though… What do you think?

We’d like to continue making jeans which impress hard-core jeans lovers but also impress children and that’s what I’d like to accomplish with TCB.
If anyone in the future says that TCB was his/her trigger to become a jeans maker, that’ll be my giving back to the magazine and jeans.
