先日のIG LIVEにて
『Gジャンのシートベルトの擦れによる色落ちは気にしますか？』
という質問を頂きました。
チノパンがメインのLIVEだったという事と、普段から気にしないからあっさりと
『あまり気にしません』
と返事してしまったんですが、実は後からジワジワと面白い質問だなと思ったので触れさせて下さい。

今日の写真は私が3年ほど着込んだS40’sJK
本当にシートベルトも気にせず車に乗り込むので画像では伝わりにくいですが、シートベルトに触れる右側の方が色落ちが進んでおります。
もし100年後にこのGジャンが誰かの手に渡った時、きっと仕様や色落ちは1940年代だけど、３点式のシートベルト痕が有るから1970年代以降だよねと推測する事が可能です。

個人的にはあまり好きでは無いのですが、スマートフォンが世に出てジーンズの色落ちでもスマホの後が浮かび上がる人が増えました。
あの色落ちがあるだけで2007年以降に着用された物だとある程度特定出来るだろうし、スマホの形が将来、物理的では無くなった時に懐かしい色落ちになるのでは無いかと推測します。
今後お金が全て電子に変わりIDもチップなどに変わるとしたらポケットに財布を入れないかもしれません。
右後ろのポケットの下のマッチ痕（ロープ痕）と呼ばれる色落ちも現代の生活では絶対に入りません。

モーターリゼーションという自動車の一般的普及を指す流れがアメリカではいつピークを迎えたのかを調べたら面白い事と結びつきました。

『1937年にはアメリカでの自動車生産台数は約400万台に達し、この頃にはアメリカでのモータリゼーションが完成したとされる。』
1937年と言えばジーンズでは剥き出しになってたバックポケットのリベットが自動車のシートや家具に傷つくのを避ける為に、コンシール化した年と重なります。

その様に時代と共にジーンズの仕様はもちろん色落ちのディテールも変化してるんだという事に気付かせて頂いて面白かったです。

During the IG live we did the other day, a guy asked us “Do you care about the seatbelt fade?”
I’ve never really cared about it so I just answered no but as I think about it it’s an interesting question.

This is my S40’s Jacket worn for about 3 years and it shows stronger fade on my right shoulder probably brought by the seatbelt. Let’s say 100 years later people might find this jacket and see it as a vintage jacket. Future people will probably find out that the details are of the 40’s but the right shoulder fade coming from the 3 point type seatbelt invented after the 70s.

Personally I’m not a fan of smart phone fade but that can be also a nice fade in the future like we appreciate the pocket watch fade on vintage jackets.

I also studied when the motorization in the US had its peak and I found an interesting fact.
In 1937, the number of car production in the US reached 4 million and the moralization in the US was said to be completed. It’s also 1937 when the concealed rivets were adopted on Levis jeans, maybe in order to protect the car seats etc.

The question made me realize again that each small detail of jeans is connected to the history.
