不謹慎かも知れないがコロナ禍をポジティブに取ってみよう。
いつもネガティブな状態の時、私は闇夜にならないと見えない物や事がきっと有ると自分に言い聞かせます。
そう
普段太陽が昇ってる内は星を確認する事が出来ないし、その存在さえも忘れてますよね。
でも子供の時、1時間有ったか無いかの急な停電に両親は慌ててましたが、私は窓から星を眺めて闇夜の星の綺麗さに感動した事を覚えてます。

現在コロナ禍と言われて1年半は経ったでしょうか？
色々な常識や生活が変わりました。
私にとって国内外問わず古着屋を巡りインプットする事によって次に作りたい物や欲しいミシンを考える時間が大好きでした。
でもその時間を取る事は物理的に難しくなりました。
きっと形は違えど皆さんの生活からも沢山の事を奪われましたよね。

そしていつもは人見知りな私でさえ
『最近初めまして！って言ってないな…」
出掛けれないって状態って事は物も含めて新たな出会いが無いって淋しいなって事に気付きました。
きっと痺れを切らしたんだと思います。
不謹慎ですがコロナになってないとこんな行動に出なかったと思います。

まるで子供の時に見上げた
停電時の星を見を観た時と同じ感情です。

私は以前からSNSで見ていたVintageコレクターViktor Fredbäckに、まるで街で偶然出逢ったのと同じ様なノリでDMを送りました。
『Hello I’m Hajime』
返信が来たらラッキー位の気持ちだったんですが、
意外とフランクに返事をくれて、Viktorの奥さんがTCBのseamenを持ってるよーと教えてくれました。
私は率直に
「岡山でモノ作りをしてる。ただ、コロナ禍で海外は疎か東京にも行けない日々が続いてて、新たなVintageの出逢いを求めてるんだ！」
って伝えました。
その私たちの言葉に彼はどう思ったのかは聞けてませんが、FaceTimeで自宅の雰囲気やVintageコレクションを沢山紹介してくれました。
Vintageコレクションルームに置いてあった漫画でしか見ない様なネズミ取りの仕掛けさえ印象的だった事を覚えてます。
最後にViktorは額装されてたジーンズを私たちに見せてくれました。
そのジーンズこそが『OLYMPICレーベルのブラウンジーンズ』
私はすぐにそれを参考にジーンズを作りたいと伝えました。
彼からの答えは
『Yes!』
『ただ条件が有る。俺は命を賭けて洞窟に入ってジーンズをハンティングしてる。だから同じ気持ちで作ってくれ』
私たちは
『もちろん！じゃあまずは俺たちが作るこのジーンズを観て欲しい！』
2020年冬　Viktorと私たちで新たなプロジェクトが始まった瞬間でした。

ビクターっていう響きを耳で聞くと、かつて存在した有名な音響メーカーを思い出す人も多いと思います。
亡くなったご主人の声が聞こえる蓄音器から離れない犬の話が私も大好きです。
さて
得意の親父ギャグ？って言われそうですが、
今回のこのプロジェクトはMaster（Viktor)からの命賭けのコレクション（声）をTCBが蓄音器として皆さんにお届けしたいという気持ちから
VIKTOR’S VOICEというプロジェクト名にさせて頂きました。
既に針はレコードに落とされました。是非この声に耳を傾けて下さい。

Knowing that it may sound imprudent but let me think positively about this
Covid situation. When I feel down, I always say to myself that there must be
something I can only see or feel when I’m in blackness and everything feels
negative. It’s something like when the sun is out, we can’t see the stars or we don’t even think
about their existence when we can’t visually see them, right? But when I was
a kid, I still remember the day when my family had a blackout at home and my
parents got panicked a bit and scurried through the house to find a torch
but I remember I was more fascinated by the beauty of stars twinkling
above.
It has been almost a year and a half after the Covid hit our world and our
lifestyle, our daily life, and everything changed. Before the Covid, I always
loved going around the world to find great vintages and loved thinking about
what products to make or what sewing machines to buy but in the reality I
could hardly take any time for the inputs in the past years.
I think it’s the same for everybody. Covid has taken away a lot of things
from your lives. By the way, I’m really shy so I don’t really seek for the
opportunities to meet new people but even I recently felt that I hadn’t even
said “Nice to meet you” for a while. We can’t go out freely meaning that we
can’t have new meetings with people, vintage, or can’t really feel any new
excitement and I think I was getting tired of waiting.
I know this is not appropriate to say but without the Covid, I think I wouldn’t
have taken such an action.
Looking back at the email box, it says December 2020. I contacted Viktor
Fredbäck who I’d known for a long time as one of the greatest denim lovers.
I messaged to him saying “ Hello I’m Hajime.” as if I had happened to see him
on the street. Well, in a hindsight I might have had the similar feeling to the
one when I was a kid seeing the beautiful stars in a blackout

I was like, if I’m lucky enough, something good would happen but he
was really a kind and generous man after all and replied to us in no
time, saying “ I know your brand! My wife has your Seamen’s
Trousers!”
I honestly told him that we are looking for a great meeting with some
great vintage piece because Corona situation doesn’t let me go out. I
don’t know what he thought about my words but through Face Time
call, he showed us his house, vintage collections and his backyard full
of super rare pieces. At last, he showed us a pair of jeans framed like
a bat of Mr. Babe Ruth. It was a pair of brown jeans and the tag said
Olympic Brand.
Right in the first phone call with him, we told him we’d like to make the
reproduction of the very jeans.
And he said “Yes, you can. but there is a condition for that. I always go
into old mines at the risk of my life. You gotta make them perfect in
every sense.”
We answered to him “ You bet”
That’s the moment in the winter 2020 when our Viktor’s Voice project
broke the seal. When it comes to the name, Victor, it kinda reminds us
of the famous audio maker, doesn’t it? I love the story where the dog
keeps staying around a phonograph playing the voice of the deceased
owner. Well, some say it’s a bad joke but this project is something like
denim freak cats are trying to play some music of vintage blue for you
with much help and advice from the master, Mr. Viktor Fredback That’s
how Viktor’s Voice Project was coined.
A needle is already put on the record. Please enjoy our music!
