6年前Ryo君がヨーロッパから帰国してTCBに入社した際に 最初に作りたいって言ってきたのがジョンレノンが着用した事で有名なこのモデルでした。
Ryo君は幼少期からお父さんの影響でBeatlesが大好きで、その影響で英語を話せるようになった程です。
私もお父さんの、お店京都の美容院にお邪魔した事が有りますがその際に Johne lenon が死んだ翌年NYまで行って撮影された写真まで見せて貰った事があります。
そんな唯の復刻だけでは無く始まったストーリーは面白い登場人物との出逢いを作ってくれました。
以前からTCBの事が大好きで世界一エイジングが上手だと思ってるイギリスはMojoの編集長　Paul Trynka 彼はジーンズの本とBeatlesの本などを執筆してるのですが、 和達たちのプロジェクトに賛同してくれて面白い人を紹介してくれました。
Beatles のツアーマネージャーも務めた　tory bramwellを紹介して貰う事になりました。

有名な逸話として ビートルズのメンバーポールマッカートニーが ブロムウェルが2006年にビートルズの本
「Magical Mystery Tours : My Life With The Beatles」を出版した際、
「ビートルズについて何か知りたかったらトニー・ブロムウェルに訊け。彼は僕より良く知っている」
とコメントする位の人。

インタビュー後も気さくにメッセージをくれるTonyでしたが、 2024年6月に死去との連絡が届き、悲しさと共に貴重なお話を伺う事が出来た感謝と、Tonyに着用して頂けた喜びを再確認する事が出来ました。
そして 生々しい事も書きますが、右綾デニムに比べれば販売数も正直伸び悩むこのタイプ。
だから販売しなくて良いじゃんという判断で良いのか？ という自問自答。
先述の素敵なストーリーを繋ぎ続けたい。
そして販売から数年経ち。
『お！vintage?TCBなんだ』 っていう機会も増えて力織機の設定を左綾に調整してもらい、丸いバータックのミシンを調整したのでした。
男同士でこんな事を書くのは恥ずかしいですが、Cat Headの時ともそうですが、意外とロマンチックなストーリーと共に始まるTCB Ryoとの競作企画。
このGジャンはジョンとポールほどでは無いけど2人の競作だと思って頂けたら嬉しいです。

久しぶりに作りました！

Six years ago, when Ryo returned to Japan from Europe and joined TCB,
the very first thing he said he wanted to make was this model —
the jacket famously worn by John Lennon.
Ryo has loved The Beatles since childhood, deeply influenced by his father.
So much so that he even learned to speak English because of them.
I once visited his father’s barbershop in Kyoto,
and he showed me photographs he had taken in New York the year after John Lennon passed away.
It was clear that this was never just about making a simple reproduction.
That story led us to meet some remarkable people.
One of them was Paul Trynka, editor-in-chief of Mojo magazine in the UK —
someone we have long admired and whom we believe to be the best in the world when it comes to denim aging.
He is also the author of books on jeans and The Beatles,
and he kindly supported our project and introduced us to someone special.
That person was Tony Bramwell, who once served as The Beatles’ tour manager.
There is a famous anecdote about him:
when Tony published his book “Magical Mystery Tours: My Life With The Beatles” in 2006,
Paul McCartney commented:
“If you want to know anything about The Beatles, ask Tony Bramwell.
He knows more about them than I do.”
We were fortunate enough to interview both Tony and Paul Trynka —
and rather than just hearing well-known stories,
we managed to uncover many untold, behind-the-scenes episodes.
We still believe that interview remains something truly special.
After the interview, Tony continued to send us warm and friendly messages.
Then, in June 2024, we received the news of his passing.
Along with deep sadness,
we felt immense gratitude for the precious stories he shared with us,
and for the joy of having seen him wear our jacket.
To be honest, compared to right-hand twill denim,
this left-hand twill model has never been a strong seller.
There were times we questioned whether it even made sense to keep producing it.
But we wanted to continue this beautiful story.
Over the years, we began to hear more people say,
“Oh — is that vintage?”
“No, it’s TCB.”
So we decided to go further —
adjusting the power loom for left-hand twill,
and fine-tuning the rounded bartack machines to refine the details even more.
It may sound a little embarrassing to say this between two men,
but just like our Cat Head project,
many of our collaborations with Ryo begin with surprisingly romantic stories.
This jacket may not be John and Paul,
but we would be happy if you thought of it as a collaboration between two people,
woven with the same spirit.
