今日は今回9年ぶりに作ったCarpenter Pants
オイルの匂いのする場所でCarpenter Pantsが似合わないわけが有りません。

何故カバーオールやペインターのステッチって生成りなんだろう？って思いますよね。
もちろんめちゃくちゃステッチが目立ってカッコいいんだけど。

デザイナーが考え抜いて決めた事？
おそらくそんな大層な理由では無くて
糸を染める必要が有る色糸より、そのままの何も染めてない生成りの方が糸代が安かった。
ただそれだけだと思います。
もう一つつけ加えるとしたら生地に馴染む色より浮いてる色の方が、絶対に縫いやすかったという都合も考えられます。

もちろん私の妄想の話ですが、私たちがアメリカの古い物を見て。
カッコ良いと惹かれる部分の理由を紐解くと、案外シンプルな理由が浮かび上がってくる事が多い気がしています。

I always visit Kiriyama-san when our new product is ready.
His factory is full of smells like car oils, the rubbery tire, etc and the whole atmosphere surely fits our new carpenter pants!

I always wonder why the ecru threads are the standard for this kind of overalls/painter pants.
I gotta say it’s one of the features I love on painter pants though.

The designer thought through what color looks the best?
I wouldn’t say so but maybe it was more of a simple reason: it was cheaper than colored threads.
There are many details on American work wear I find really cool and get attracted by and every time I try to see the reasons behind, it’s often the case that they are so based on the functionality & the efficiency.

Having said that, let me say that I’ve thought through the color of the best-matching thread on these pants lol!
