Working Cat Hero
「Rancher’z Jacket
Some time ago,
we filmed a little bit of the making of the Working Cat Hero.
Since it’s a left-hand twill denim, the sewing machine settings are different from the right-hand twill fabrics we usually work with.
Because of that, even the familiar scenery inside the factory felt a little fresh.
Normally, when we produce our standard items,
the production team doesn’t ask many questions about how the product is being received.
But this time, a few of them asked me,
“Is the Rancher’z Jacket getting good feedback?”
I thought it was an unusual question, so I asked why.
It turns out that details like the action pleats and the front zipper make the jacket take several times longer to produce than a typical one. (laugh)
It reminded me of how, when we eat, we take a moment to appreciate the people and the life behind the food.
Of course, I hope customers can simply enjoy wearing the clothes casually and comfortably.
But as someone who sells them, I feel it’s important to remember and appreciate everyone involved in making them—
from the thread makers to the fabric mills and the sewing team.
At TCB, we try to think of the ability to make clothes itself as a resource.
Our job is to figure out how to deliver that limited resource to customers
as carefully and as efficiently as possible.
Working on pieces with complex constructions like the action pleats,
and going back and forth with the sewing team during production,
reminded me of that once again.
