丸みを帯びたフラップ。
そんな特徴的なディテールを持つ20’s Jacketが、再び店頭に並びました。
12.5ozという軽やかな生地は、
暖かくなってきても「Gジャンを羽織っていたい」人にちょうどいい一着です。
そして今日の着用者は、
広島県福山市で「くわい」の名人と呼ばれる友人。
普段からTCBをユニフォームとして、畑に立っています。
年始にはテレビにも出ていて、なんだか嬉しくなりました。
彼は私に言いました。
農業の世界も担い手が少なく、
「45歳の自分が一番若手なんよ」と笑っていました。
洋服も同じで、
家業ではなく一から始めると、TCBもまだまだ若手の部類です。
もしこの服が、
誰かの“仕事着”になって、
次の世代が「やってみたい」と思うきっかけになったら嬉しい。
ちなみに、福山に住んでいた頃は
「くわい」という食べ物すら知らなかったし、
この街でジーンズが作られていることも知りませんでした。
15歳の頃、福山駅でジーンズを穿いていたら
「Levi’sの人なんだけど、君ジーンズ好き？」って声をかけられて。
当時は「こんな田舎に来るわけないじゃん」って思ってたけど、
今思えば、きっと生産に関わる人だったんでしょうね。
自分の生まれた町に何があるか。
外に出て初めて見えるものもあるし、
知ることで、また違う景色に見えてくる。
そんなことを思い出した一日でした。

He wears TCB as his uniform, working out in the fields.
He was even featured on TV earlier this year, which made me genuinely happy to see.
While we were talking, he said something that stuck with me.
There are fewer and fewer people entering agriculture,
and at 45, he’s considered the youngest in his field.
He laughed as he said it.
It made me realize—
clothing isn’t so different.
If you’re not continuing a family business,
TCB is still a young player too.
If this jacket can become someone’s workwear,
and inspire the next generation to say
“I want to try this,”
that would mean everything to us.
By the way, when I used to live in Fukuyama,
I didn’t even know what kuwai was,
nor did I realize jeans were being made in this town.
When I was 15, hanging around Fukuyama Station in my jeans,
someone came up to me and said,
“I work for Levi’s—do you like jeans?”
At the time, I thought,
“No way someone from Levi’s would come all the way out here.”
But looking back now,
he was probably involved in production.
You don’t always notice what your hometown holds.
But once you step outside,
you start to see things differently.
And once you know,
even familiar places begin to look new again.
That’s what this day reminded me of.
