私が着用していたジーンズがサイズアウトしたことをきっかけに、
そして、児島のさまざまな職人たちの技術を、
TCBならではのやり方で紹介したいと思い、
このプロジェクトは始まりました。
少し自虐的ではありますが、
「太っていた頃の自分のジーンズを“録音”して、
みなさんに気軽に楽しんでもらえたら」
という想いから、
このシリーズを Fat Cats Records と名付けました。
名前の通り、このジーンズは“record”されています。
だからこそ、さまざまな体型の方が、
さまざまなサイズ感で穿いていただくことが出来ます。
今日の写真は、USED加工の擦り工程。
先日、森香澄の“光と影”を参考に、
ヒゲのグラデーションの再現についてお話しましたが、
この道を本気で上り詰めるには、
千回は擦らなければ辿り着けない世界だと思います。
今回の Fat Cats Records で注目してほしいのは、
私が実際に穿いて出来た“ヒゲの再現力”。
当時、私が着ていたジャケットであれば、
サイズ50のヒゲを新品のサイズ50にトレースすることは、
なんとなく想像がつくと思います。
でも今回は、
“Record”と呼んでいるくらいですから、
サイズ34に落とし込んでも、
違和感なくその表情が成立しているのが、この企画のいちばんの特徴です。
現在、TCB SHOPでは年末年始の営業期間中、先行発売中です。

This project began with a very personal reason —
the jeans I had been wearing for years no longer fit me.
At the same time, I felt a growing desire to introduce the incredible craftsmanship of Kojima in a way that only TCB could do.
Those two things became the starting point of this project.
With a bit of self-mockery, I named this series Fat Cats Records —
from the idea of “recording” the jeans I wore back when I was heavier,
and sharing those records so people around the world can enjoy them freely.
Just like the name suggests, these jeans are recorded.
That is why they can be worn by people of many different body types,
in many different fits, while still carrying the same story.
Today’s photos show the rubbing process of the USED finish.
The other day, I talked about recreating the whisker gradation inspired by the “light and shadow” of Kasumi Mori.
To truly master this path, I believe it takes at least a thousand passes of rubbing —
a world that can only be reached through endless repetition.
What I would love you to focus on in this Fat Cats Records project
is the accuracy of the reproduced whiskers that were originally created by my own wear.
If we were simply tracing whiskers from my old jacket in size 50
onto a brand-new jacket in the same size,
it would be easy to imagine how that could be done.
But this time, because these are truly records,
even when those whiskers are transferred onto a size 34,
they still look completely natural —
and that is the greatest feature of this project.
These pieces are now available for early release at the TCB Shop during our year-end and New Year opening period.
We are open every day through the end of the year,
and will resume from January 2nd in the new year.
