11月から、倉敷・美観地区で TCBjeans を取り扱ってくださっている Matou さん。
Matou さんの本体は、児島のデニム洗い工場 Whoval になります。
そんな Matou さんから
「どうせだったら、TCBの別注を作りましょうよ！」
と声をかけていただき、今回の企画がスタートしました。
何をしようかと考えたときに思いついたのが USED加工。
やっぱり Matou の根っこにある本業が生きる企画がいいな、と思ったからです。
TCBでも時々 USED加工はしていますが、
TCB単体では、もしかしたらやらないかもしれない。
そんなエッセンスを加えられたら、とも思いました。
今回の企画では、80’s のギャラクティックウォッシュを再現してもらっています。
私は星を見るとき、いつもこう思います。
夜にならないと気づかない存在。
それは普段、当たり前にそこにあるものだけれど、
その当たり前が当たり前じゃなくなった瞬間に、
人はハッと気づかされることがあります。
それは、水だったり。
空気が美味しいと感じることだったり。
本当に、毎日意識せずそばにあるものです。
だからこそ、
闇夜にしか見えないものを闇夜に気づかされて、
昼間にもちゃんと意識しないといけないな、
そんなふうに考えるようになりました。
風邪をひいたときに、
「健康には気をつけなきゃいけないよな……」
と後悔する、あの感覚と同じです。
そんな星への願いを込めて。
そして星屑を表現するにあたって、
ベースのデニムを真っ黒に入れるかどうか、正直かなり悩みました。
でも今回は、少し履き込まれた表情に仕上げています。
結果的に、夜明けが近い星空を思わせるような表情になり、
私自身の星への思いも、少しポジティブに傾いた気がしました。

Since November, Matou has been carrying TCBjeans at their shop in the Bikan Historical Quarter of Kurashiki.
Matou’s core business is actually Whoval, a denim washing factory based in Kojima.
It was Matou who suggested,
“Since we’re working together anyway, why don’t we create a TCB exclusive?”
And that’s how this project began.
When I started thinking about what we should make, the first idea that came to mind was a USED finish.
I felt it was important to create something that truly reflected Matou’s roots and their core expertise.
TCB does occasional USED processing,
but this is probably something we wouldn’t normally do on our own.
I wanted to add that kind of special nuance—something unique to this collaboration.
For this project, we asked Whoval to recreate an ’80s Galactic Wash.
Whenever I look at the stars, I always think the same thing.
They’re something you only notice once night falls.
They’re always there, taken for granted—
until the moment that “ordinary” disappears,
and suddenly you realize their presence.
It’s the same with water.
Or the moment you notice how good the air feels to breathe.
Things that are always close to us, without us even thinking about them.
That’s why I’ve come to believe that
what we notice only in the darkness
should be remembered and appreciated even in the daylight.
It’s the same feeling you get when you catch a cold and think,
“I really should take better care of my health…”
With those thoughts about the stars in mind,
and when trying to express stardust through this finish,
I honestly struggled with whether the base denim should be dyed pure black.
In the end, we chose to give it a slightly worn-in expression instead.
The result reminds me of a starry sky just before dawn—
and personally, it made my feelings toward the stars lean a bit more toward the positive.
