少し前から、 ある生地づくりに取り組んでいます。
デニム作りは何度もしてきましたが、 何色もの糸を組み合わせて生地を作るのは、やはり簡単ではありません。
糸を一本増やしたり、減らしたり。 それだけでピッチの印象が変わる。
その繊細さが、実に面白いところでもあります。
今回の生地は、 合計で4色の糸を組み合わせています。 その中で、 今回いちばん拘ったのが グリーン の色でした。
Ryo君は写真を撮りながら、 「新鮮なワサビみたいですね」 と呟いていました。
なるほど、ワサビか。 たしかに、あの感じに近いのかもしれません。
最近は、 「前からワサビで食べてましたよ」 という顔をしながら、 お肉をワサビで食べるのが好きなのですが、 お寿司も含めて、 あの“ピリッ”としたグリーンには、 つい手が伸びてしまいます。
この生地もまた、 そんなふうに、 さりげなく効いてくる存在になってくれたらと思っています。

For a little while now,
we’ve been working on a certain fabric.
We’ve made denim many times before,
but creating a fabric by combining multiple colors of yarn
is never an easy task.
Add one thread.
Remove one thread.
That alone can completely change the rhythm of the pattern.
And that kind of delicacy is what makes it truly interesting.
This time, the fabric is woven using
a total of four different colors of yarn.
Among them,
the color we were most particular about
was green.
While taking photos,
Ryo quietly said,
“It looks like fresh wasabi.”
Wasabi—
yes, that might actually be a good way to describe it.
Lately, I’ve found myself enjoying meat
with wasabi, wearing the look of someone who’s been doing it forever.
The same goes for sushi—
there’s something about that sharp,
slightly spicy green
that my hand always reaches for.
If this fabric can become something similar—
not overpowering,
but quietly effective—
then I think we’re on the right path.
