ウエスタンシャツだけど、 The ワークシャツから、少しだけ「衣装」としての匂いが出始めた頃。
1950’sのウエスタンシャツです。
そんな時代背景を製品名に入れたくて付けた名前が 『Dude Ranch』。
ノコギリ型のポケットや、 曲線を描くヨーク。
ワークウェアの延長線上にありながら、 どこかステージ衣装のような華やかさも感じるディテールです。
ウエスタンシャツは、 きっと牛の角が引っかからないように—— そんな理由から生まれたと言われる、 身体に沿うシェイプされたシルエット。
機能から生まれた形が、 結果として美しく見える。
そんな服が、昔から好きです。
身体に吸い付くサイズ感で着るのもOld Skool。
でも、 スウェットの上にラフに羽織るのも、 今の気分としては悪くないと思います。
ジーンズやジージャンのインナーに、 デニムのウエスタンシャツ。
少しやり過ぎなくらいのデニムオンデニム。
それくらいが、ちょうど良い気がしています。
It’s a Western shirt, but from a time when the classic work shirt had just begun to take on a slight “costume” feel.
This is a 1950’s Western shirt.
We wanted to capture that atmosphere in the product name, which is why we called it
“Dude Ranch.”
Sawtooth pockets,
and a curved yoke.
Details that still sit firmly on the extension of workwear, yet carry a hint of stage-like elegance.
Western shirts were said to have been shaped this way so that a cow’s horns wouldn’t catch —
a silhouette designed to follow the body.
A form born from function,
that ends up looking beautiful.
I’ve always loved clothing like that.
Wearing it true to the original — close to the body — is Old Skool.
But throwing it casually over a sweatshirt also feels right for the mood these days.
A denim Western shirt under jeans and a denim jacket.
Denim on denim, maybe just a little over the top.
That feels just about right to me.
