新しい商品が出来る時、
TCBでは
「季節が来たから作る」
という事はあまりありません。
よく言ってきた事ですが、
きっかけは大体この3つです。
良い古着に出会った時。
面白いミシンに出会った時。
そして、良い生地に出会った時。
時には
「この生地を使いたいから
あの古着を探そう」
そんな順番で
企画が始まる事もあります。
何かビジョンを持って
生地屋さんに行く事もあれば、
空っぽの頭で行く事もあります。
でも、
空っぽの頭で行くからこそ
出会えるものもあります。
少し前までは、
ノープランで本屋に行って
偶然出会った本を買うような、
そんな楽しみに少し似ています。
生地屋さんからすると
ノープランでフラッと来るのは
大迷惑かもしれませんが（笑）
そんな衝動で動けるのも
企画から生産まで
児島で全部出来る
TCBの良さなのかもしれません。
When a new product is born,
it’s rarely because
“the season has come”
at TCB.
As I’ve often said,
there are usually three things
that become the starting point.
When we come across
a great vintage piece.
When we come across
an interesting sewing machine.
And when we come across
a great fabric.
Sometimes it even starts with,
“I want to use this fabric,
so let’s go look for the right vintage piece.”
There are times
when I go to a fabric supplier
with a clear vision in mind,
and there are also times
when I go with an empty head.
But sometimes,
it’s precisely because
I go with an empty head
that I find something unexpected.
Until not so long ago,
it felt a little like
going to a bookstore with no plan
and coming home with a book
I happened to discover by chance.
From the fabric supplier’s point of view,
someone dropping by with no plan at all
might be a bit of a nuisance, I suppose. (laughs)
But being able to move on that kind of impulse
might be one of the good things about TCB—
that here in Kojima,
we can do everything
from planning to production ourselves.
