今となってはアスレチックメーカーのような顔つきになった XX DEVELOPMENT の太一君たちが作る SURE。
毎回、作るたびに生地やシルエットを見直す姿勢は変わらない。
今回はパンツトルソーにSWEAT PANTSを履かせて、 その上から手描きでパターンを引いていく姿に惹かれました。
効率とは真逆のやり方。
でも、ああいう作り方を見てしまうと
「少しだけでも店に置きたいな」
と思ってしまう。
結果的にSUREのオンラインでは即完売。
買えなかった方も多いと聞きました。
だからこそ、 良いタイミングでの発売になったと思っています。
TCB的には、 ただのスウェットとして着るよりも カバーオールや囚人服と合わせて、 少しだけ無骨に。
写真ではVANSのスリッポンを合わせていますが、 あえてブーツで重たく振るのもきっと良い。
スウェットなのに、 どこかワークウェアの匂いがする。
そんな穿き方をしてもらえたら嬉しいです。
Now carrying the SURE brand by Taichi and the team at XX DEVELOPMENT —
a group that now feels almost like an athletic manufacturer.
What hasn’t changed is their constant refinement.
Every time they produce something, they revisit the fabric and silhouette.
This time, what caught my attention was seeing them put sweatpants on a pants torso
and draw the pattern by hand directly over it.
It’s the opposite of efficiency.
But when you witness that kind of process,
you can’t help but think,
“I want to carry just a small amount in our shop.”
As it turned out, SURE’s online store sold out immediately.
I’ve heard many people missed their chance.
So in a way, the timing feels right.
From TCB’s perspective,
rather than wearing them simply as sweatpants,
we’d like to see them styled with a coverall or even a prison jacket —
just slightly rugged.
In the photos, we paired them with Vans slip-ons,
but intentionally going heavier with boots would also look great.
They’re sweatpants,
yet they carry a subtle workwear scent.
We’d be happy to see them worn that way.
