去年の夏の終わり、友人の【XX DEVELOPMENT】と一緒に作ったUSNのリバーシブルT。
気付けば季節が一周して、あの時作ったこのTシャツが精悍な顔つきで里帰りをしたので今日は紹介します。

このTシャツのオーナーさんはいつもTCBとSUREをミックスして楽しんでくださってるハラケンさん。
ガンガン着用してるのはもちろん、どうやら日焼けさせる為にベランダに干しっぱなしにしてた模様。
分かりやすく新品のリバTと並べて撮影をしてますが、ネイビーは色が褪せてナスコンに。イエローサイドも乾いたイエローとでも呼びましょうか。どちらの色も素敵な色目に仕上がる事が証明出来ました。

改めてこのTシャツの事を説明し直すと
このTシャツの元ネタは、1940年代USNのリバーシブルT。
これ本当に着れるの？」というくらい、人体無視なパターンに驚かされたそうです。

まるで“人間工学”なんて言葉がまだ無かった時代。
直線的な肩線、前後のない構造、不器用なようでいて、でも着ると抜群の雰囲気を放つ不思議な一着。
それを現代に再現するという、まさに”タイムスリップものづくり”。
着心地を優先するなら絶対に生まれなかった一着。
だけど、ビンテージに惹かれる気持ちって、合理性じゃなく「なんかカッコいい」が先に来るじゃないですか。
このTシャツには、まさにその“なんかカッコいい”が詰まってます。

元ネタのVintageがそうだからなんだけど、
バインダー仕立ての首元、リブを使わずボディと同じ生地を使った潔さ、
そして無骨すぎるほどのヘビーオンス生地（8oz！）に、アスレチックウェアの原点を感じます。
「着にくさ」が味方になるTシャツとでも言うのかな？
私は初めてTシャツに袖を通した時、初めて新品のボタンフライのジーンズに脚を通した時の少年時代の気持ちを思い出しました。

こちらのTシャツは生地から作って貰った完全別注品になるので売り切れサイズの再生産は御座いません。
なんと去年は作れたこのTシャツの糸も、今年は作れなくなったみたいです。
デニムもTシャツも同様ですが、昔ながらのモノづくりがいつまで続けれるのかが業界内に居ても不安な時代に入ってきたと痛感します。
私たちが出来る事は微力ですが、少しでも製品を作らせて頂いて販売させて頂く事でTシャツは色褪せても技術や産業が色褪せない事を願うばかりです。
At the end of last summer, we teamed up with our friend at XX DEVELOPMENT to create this USN Reversible T-shirt.
Now that the seasons have come full circle, it’s back at TCB with a sharper, more rugged look—so today, I’d like to reintroduce it.

This particular T-shirt belongs to Haraken-san, a long-time supporter who always mixes TCB and SURE in his daily style.
He’s been wearing it hard—and apparently, leaving it out on his balcony intentionally to get it sun-faded.
We shot it side-by-side with a brand-new one for comparison. The navy side has beautifully faded into what I’d call a “nasu-kon” (eggplant navy), while the yellow side has dried out into a soft, dusty tone.
Both colors have aged wonderfully—living proof of how well this shirt wears in over time.

A T-shirt That Doesn’t Care About You—And That’s What Makes It Great
The original reference for this tee is a 1940s USN reversible T-shirt.
When we first studied it, the pattern was shocking—almost like it ignored the human body altogether.

It was from a time before “ergonomics” even existed: straight shoulder seams, no clear front or back, and yet… when worn, it somehow exudes a powerful presence.
Recreating that in the present day was like a form of time travel.

It’s a T-shirt that would never have been born if comfort had been the main goal.
But vintage lovers know—it’s not about logic or practicality. It’s about that “something cool” you can’t quite explain.
And this shirt has that in spades.

8oz of Stubborn Beauty
Just like the vintage original, the neckline uses a binder construction with no ribbing—just the same jersey fabric as the body.
That, combined with a hefty 8oz fabric, gives it the feel of an early athletic wear piece.
It’s fair to say: this is a T-shirt where the discomfort becomes part of the charm.

When I first put it on, it brought back the same feeling I had as a kid pulling on my first pair of raw denim button-fly jeans.

No Restocks—And Not Just Marketing Talk
This T-shirt is made entirely from custom-milled fabric, and unfortunately, the yarn we used last year is no longer available.
So, when a size sells out, that’s it.

We’re reaching a point in this industry where we can’t take traditional manufacturing for granted.
Even being on the inside, I sometimes feel uncertain about how long we’ll be able to keep doing things this way.

All we can do is keep making what we believe in—so that even if the fabric fades, the skills and the culture behind it don’t fade with it.
