「Boss of the old cat」を作ったときにも少し触れましたが、TCBの実店舗にご来店いただくお客様から意外と多いのが、

「この飾ってあるUSEDサンプル、売ってもらえませんか？」
というお声。

もちろん、そう言っていただけるのは本当にありがたいことです。
でも、色落ちのイメージをたくさんの方に見ていただくためにも、販売はお断りしてきました。

でもだったら——
最初からUSED加工を施したジーンズを作ってみるのはどうだろう？

そんな気持ちから、今回のチャレンジがスタートしました。

実は、正直に言うと僕自身、USED加工のジーンズってほとんど穿いたことがありません。
それは単純に、自分は毎日ジーンズを穿いて仕事ができる環境にいるから。自然と色落ちさせていける立場だからです。

でも、お客様の「穿き込みたいけど時間がない」「キレイに色落ちさせるのが難しい」といった声に、どこか麻痺していたところがあったのかもしれません。

そして、もう一つ。USED加工を作る工程には、たくさんの職人さんたちの技術と手間がかかっている。
そのことをあらためて再確認できたことも、大きな理由の一つです。
When we released “Boss of the Old Cat,” I briefly mentioned this before, but at our TCB store, we often hear a particular request from customers:

“Can I buy that faded sample on display?”

We’re always grateful for those words.
But since those samples are there to show how our jeans fade over time, we’ve had to decline those requests—until now.

So we thought:
Why not create a pair that’s already been given a well-worn look from the start?

That idea marked the beginning of this new challenge.

To be honest, I personally haven’t worn many pre-faded (used-wash) jeans.
That’s simply because I’m fortunate to be in an environment where I wear raw denim every day. I get to fade them naturally through daily life.

But when I stopped to really listen, I realized I might have grown a little numb to the voices of our customers—those who want to break in their jeans, but don’t have the time… or feel it’s hard to do it well.

And there’s another reason.
Through this project, I was reminded how much skill and effort goes into making a great washed pair—by the hands of many skilled craftsmen.

That realization also pushed me to move forward.
