馬に跨った時のことを考えて作られたジーンズ。
For Cowboys.
時代が流れ、馬からバイクへ。
でも、その考え方、そしてペルソナは大きく変わらないまま、作られ続けてきたように感じます。
For Cowboys から、For Riders へ。
もちろん、アイデンティティはそのままです。
馬に跨った時、ポケットが鞍に干渉しにくいように、サイズを問わず全てのポケット位置が脇から固定されている。
さらに面白いのは、一般的なジーンズであれば、サイズが大きくなるにつれてポケットのサイズも大きくなることが多いのに、このモデルは全サイズ共通のポケットサイズで作られていること。
そこには、絶対に馬の鞍を邪魔しないという、強い意思のようなものを感じます。
日本では90年代、渋カジと呼ばれる人たちが、この独特なポケット位置のパンツをピタピタに穿いている姿も格好良かった。
でも個人的には、ストレートタイプを少し緩めのサイズで穿いた時に、ポケットが右端に寄って、どこか間延びして見える。
その、少しダサいのに格好良いバランスもまた魅力だったなと、少年時代の記憶として残っています。

As time passed, the horse gave way to the motorcycle.
But I feel that the idea behind them, and the persona they were made for, continued on without changing very much.
From For Cowboys to For Riders.
Of course, the identity remains the same.
When sitting on a horse, the pockets are less likely to interfere with the saddle because, regardless of size, the position of every pocket is fixed from the side seam.
What is also interesting is that, with most jeans, the pocket size usually increases as the waist size gets larger.
But on this model, the pocket size remains the same across all sizes.
I can sense a strong intention there: never to let the pockets get in the way of the saddle.
In Japan during the 1990s, the people known for the Shibu-kaji style looked great wearing the flared version of this uniquely positioned pocket design, fitted tightly to the body.
But personally, what remains in my memory even more is the balance created when the straight version is worn a little loose.
The pocket shifts toward the far right side, creating a slightly stretched-out, awkward look.
That balance — a little uncool, yet somehow very cool — is something that has stayed with me since my boyhood.
