ライニング付きのワークウェアを作るようになったきっかけになった人——
そう言っても、大袈裟ではないと思っています。
いつもガレージでクラシックミニをビルドし、
3匹のホワイトシェパードと暮らす Kiriyama さん。
空調も使えないガレージという環境では、
やっぱり「暖かくて、洗えるワークウェア」が必要になります。
実際に、そんな服を着て作業をしている姿を何度も見てきました。
ライニング付きのカバーオールの“グッドジョブ”なポイントは、
やはり襟をコーデュロイにしたところだと思います。
羽織った瞬間から首元に優しく、
結果的に——かもしれませんが——
それがちゃんとデザインにもなっている。
今回はヴィンテージからインスパイアを受けて、
襟だけでなく、カフスとフラップにもコーデュロイを使用しました。
よりワークウェアらしく、それでいて少し上品に。
そんなバランスに仕上がったと思っています。
The person who became the catalyst for us to start making lined workwear—
I don’t think that’s an exaggeration.
That person is Kiriyama, who spends his days building classic Minis in his garage
and lives alongside three White Shepherds.
In a garage where climate control isn’t an option,
“warm, washable workwear” is simply essential.
I’ve seen him working in those kinds of clothes many times.
What I consider the real good job point of a lined coverall
is the corduroy collar.
From the moment you put it on, it feels gentle around the neck,
and—perhaps as a result—
it naturally becomes part of the design as well.
This time, inspired by vintage pieces,
we used corduroy not only on the collar,
but also on the cuffs and the pocket flaps.
More workwear-like, yet with a subtle sense of refinement.
That’s the balance we aimed for with this piece.
