この度、Reebok × TCB Jeans でコラボレーションをさせていただきました。
ベースになったジーンズは、私がジーンズの中で最も基準として考える50年代のジーンズをもとにしたモデル。
まさに、私が最初に憧れたジーンズの年代です。
そしてTCB Jeansの始まりも、この50’sモデルからスタートしました。
少し個人的な話になりますが、私がジーンズに夢中になった90年代中盤は、
ちょうどXXモデルにハイテクスニーカーを合わせるのが楽しかった時代。
30年近く前、雑誌で「ポンプフューリー 香港返還モデル」を眺めながら
「欲しいけど、絶対に手に入らないよな…」と思っていた17歳の井上少年にもし会えるなら、こう伝えたい。
「香港返還モデルは持ってないけど、シトロンは手に入ったよ。
そして何と、Reebokと一緒にジーンズを作ることになったよ。」
会社を自分の思い出で私物化するような書き方はしたくないですが、
もしかしたらTCBは、“あの頃の井上少年に向けて” ジーンズを作っているのかもしれません。
あの頃の未来に、僕らは立っている。
We’re proud to announce our collaboration: Reebok × TCB Jeans.
The jeans we created for this project are based on the 1950s models—the era I’ve always considered the true standard of denim.
It’s also the decade when I first fell in love with jeans, and fittingly, the very starting point of TCB Jeans itself was a 50’s model.
On a more personal note—
Back in the mid-1990s, when I first became obsessed with denim, it was the golden age of pairing XX-model jeans with high-tech sneakers.
Nearly 30 years ago, I remember looking at a magazine photo of the Pump Fury Hong Kong Handover Model and thinking,
“I’ll never be able to get my hands on these…”
If I could meet that 17-year-old Inoue, I’d tell him this:
“I never got the Hong Kong Handover Model,
but I did get the Citron—and guess what, I ended up making jeans together with Reebok.”
I don’t mean to turn my company into something that only reflects my personal story,
but maybe, just maybe, TCB has always been about making jeans for that younger version of myself.
We’re standing in the future we once dreamed of.
