先日ご紹介させていただいたお笑い芸人・プリンプリン田中さんが着用する Late S40’s。
めちゃくちゃ素敵な色落ちだなと思ってたら、改めて写真が届いたのでご紹介したいと思います。
直近のYouTubeを確認する限り、着用期間は約11ヶ月で洗濯13回という月に１回以上だと意外と洗われてる方になるのでしょうか？
実はここだけの話、僕自身はいまだに“洗いを我慢しちゃう派”なんですが、 田中さんの色落ちを見ていると、
「ガンガン穿いて、劇場の板の上で笑いを浴びて、ガンガン洗う」
──それが良い色に育つ秘訣なんだなと感じました。
昔、水にクラシック音楽を聴かせながら凍らせると 綺麗な結晶ができるという実験を観たことがあります。
人間の大半も水分でできているから、耳から入る音や言葉には 気をつけなければいけないと思いました。
きっとデニムも同じで、 たくさんの“笑い声”を聴いたジーンズだからこそ、 こんな良い表情に育つのかもしれません。
ジーンズを作る自分は、関わる人を爆笑させることはできなくても、 せめて“笑顔”にはしたいと思う。
そんな想いを感じる、プリンプリン田中さんのジーンズです。

Recently, I introduced the Japanese comedian Purin Purin Tanaka wearing the Late S40’s.
I thought his pair had such a beautiful fade—and just the other day, he sent me new photos, so I’d love to share them with you.
From his recent YouTube videos, it seems he’s worn them for about 11 months and washed them 13 times.
Washing more than once a month—maybe that’s actually on the frequent side?
To be honest, I’m still the type who tries to resist washing my jeans as long as I can.
But seeing Tanaka-san’s fades made me realize something:
“Wear them hard, make people laugh on stage, and wash them hard.”
That might be the real secret to great fading.
I once saw an experiment where water was frozen while listening to classical music,
and the result was beautifully formed ice crystals.
Since most of our bodies are made of water,
it reminded me how important the sounds and words we hear are.
And maybe denim is the same way.
These jeans have listened to countless bursts of laughter,
and that’s what gave them this wonderful expression.
As a jeans maker, I may not be able to make people burst out laughing,
but I do hope I can make them smile.
That’s the kind of feeling I see in Purin Purin Tanaka’s jeans.
