熱帯地用野戦服として作られた「ジャングルファティーグ」をベースに製作した TCB Tropical Trousers、生産スケジュールが整いましたので予約受付を開始します。

ミリタリーを縫うたびに思うこと。
TCBでは日々、ワークウェアをメインに生産しており、アメリカの合理性に毎日感動しています。
けれど、時折ミリタリーアイテムを作ると、ある大きな違いに気づかされます。

それは、「売るために作る服」と「戦うために作る服」の違い。

もちろん、ミリタリーもワークウェアを作る工場が納入業者となって同じ工場で作ることが多く、縫製仕様が似ている部分も多いです。
しかし根本的な思想が違う分、作る側としては大変です。

製品仕様へのこだわり。

後ろポケットはフラップ付きの玉縁仕様。
脇のカーゴポケットはマチ付きで、アイロンワークも多め。
脇・お尻・インシームは全て巻き縫い、さらに腰裏の始末も…と、書き出すとキリがありません。

でも、それこそがTCBがこのパンツを作りたい理由だったりもします。

カーゴパンツが“作れない”時代。

先日、かつてカーゴパンツ専門のブランドを運営していた方とお会いしました。
その方曰く──

「15年前は児島にカーゴパンツのリソースが豊富にあって、何の苦労もなかった。でも今は工場の力が落ちていて企画すらされない。」
確かに流行り廃りもあるでしょう。
でも今は“仕様が難しいから流行らせない”という側面もあるのかもしれない。
作れる工場が無くなることで、文化が先細っていく。痛感しました。

TCBでは年に1〜2回、緩く楽しく Tropical TRを作り続けられたらいいなと。
そんな工場であり続けたいと願っています。

やっぱり、**テンションが上がるのは「剥き出しのボタン」

使用しているコットンポプリンも軽くて、驚くほど着心地が良いです。
「軍で採用されるのも納得だな」と、改めて思います。

We’re happy to announce that pre-orders are now open for the TCB Tropical Trousers, based on the Jungle Fatigue pants originally developed as tropical combat uniforms.

Thoughts that come to mind when sewing military garments
At TCB, we mainly focus on making workwear, and we’re always impressed by the practicality and logic found in American garments.
But every now and then, when we dive into military-inspired pieces, we’re reminded of one key difference:

Clothes made to be sold vs. clothes made to survive.

Of course, military uniforms and workwear often come from the same manufacturing roots.
Many specs and sewing methods overlap.
But the philosophy behind them is fundamentally different — and as a manufacturer, that makes a big difference.

Product details and craftsmanship
The back pockets are welted with flaps.
The cargo pockets on the sides are box-pleated and require a fair bit of ironing work.
Side seams, seat seams, and inseams are all felled.
Even the waistband finishing takes extra effort. Once we start listing the details, there’s really no end.

But honestly, that’s exactly why we want to keep making these pants.

An era where cargo pants are “hard to make”
The other day, we met someone who used to run a brand that specialized in cargo pants.
He said:

“Fifteen years ago, Kojima had plenty of resources for making cargo pants. Production was easy. But in recent years, factories have lost the power — some don’t even take on those projects anymore.”
Sure, trends play a role.
But maybe nowadays, the real reason we don’t see these kinds of garments is because they’re too hard to make, so the industry simply avoids them.

When production skills disappear, the culture fades with them.
We felt that deeply.

At TCB, we hope to continue making Tropical TRs once or twice a year, casually but seriously.
We want to be the kind of factory that keeps this tradition alive.

First model details that still get us excited
The side cargo pockets — sure, snap buttons are more convenient.
But what really gets our hearts racing is that exposed button style from the 1st model.

The cotton poplin we use is incredibly lightweight and comfortable to wear.
It’s easy to see why the military chose this fabric — we’re impressed every time we sew it.
