13年前にTCBjeansが生まれた時、最初に作ったジーンズがTCB 50’sでした。
それは、自分たちにとっての原点であり、“ジーンズとは何か”への最初の答えでした。

そしていつしか私たちのジーンズが海を渡るようになった頃、
日本車が輸出される時に左ハンドルに変わるように、海外の方にもフィットしやすいようにと考えて生まれたのがSlim50’sでした。

そんな50’sは、私にとっては北極星のような存在です。
何かを作る時は、常にこのモデルを基準に考えます。

シルエットが太いのか細いのか、生地が厚いのか薄いのか、色はどうか。
そのすべての判断軸に、いつも50’sがあります。

そしてこの度、その50’sに新たなシルエットとしてBaggyを追加することになりました。

きっかけは、現場の若者たちが50’sのパターンをベースにカスタムして、
バギースタイルにして穿いていたのが、とても素敵だったことでした。
その姿を見て、「これはちゃんと形にしておかないと」と思ったのです。

昔、モッズたちが穿いたままお風呂に入り縮ませてピタピタのジーンズを穿いていたように、
スケーターたちがオーバーサイズで穿いていたように。
同じ一本でも、誰がどう穿くかでまったく表情が変わることを、改めて教えられた気がしました。

その衝撃を、そのままかたちにしたのが、このBaggy50’sです。

もちろん、生地や縫製仕様は50’sと同じ。
けれどヒップ、ワタリ、裾までしっかりとゆとりを持たせた、現代的なワイドシルエットになっています。

自分たちの原点＝50’sを、次の世代がどう咀嚼し、どう自由に穿いていくのか。
それを見届けたくて作った一本です。

When TCB jeans started 13 years ago, the first jeans we made were the 50’s. They were our starting point and our first answer to the question, “What are the best jeans?”Then, when our jeans started to be shipped overseas, just as Japanese cars are converted to left-handed when exported, we created the Slim 50’s to make it easier to style for overseas denim fans.

The 50’s is like the polaris to me.
When I make new jeans, I always think about it based on the 50’s, whether it’s wider or slim, thick or thin, and how the indigo color tinge looks.And this time, we decided to add this Baggy Cut as a new silhouette to the 50’s. The trigger was when young boys at TCB customized the 50’s pattern and wore it in a baggy style, which I thought was very cool. Seeing that, I thought, “I have to make this into a proper shape.”Just like how mods used to get into the bath with their jeans on and shrink them to make them tight, or skaters used to wear them oversized. I felt like I was being reminded that the same pair of jeans can look completely different depending on who wears them and how they style.

These Baggy 50’s are a direct embodiment of that impact.
Of course, the fabric and sewing specifications are the same as the 50’s. But it has a modern, wide silhouette with a plenty of room around the hips, thighs and hem.

We made this pair because we wanted to see how the next generation would digest our origins, the 50’s, and how they would enjoy jeans.
