SNSを見てると世界中のジーンズ好きたちが色んなスタイルのリペアを楽しんでるのをよく見かけます。
中でも日本の伝統的な『BORO』を彷彿とさせる手刺しによるリペアは独自の美しさがあって人気のようです。

ちょうど私物のS40’sに破れが一ヶ所あったので自分で直してみる事にしました。
思いついた修理方法は陶器の修理で古来から行われてる『金継ぎによる直し』から着想を得た方法。
金の糸を使って生地を継なぐ様に縫い合わせる。そんなオマージュ的なリペアです・

手刺しでも良いしミシンでも良い。
ジーンズを直して穿くというという行為が、より愛着を生むキッカケになれば良いなと
思っています。

これからは家の中のモノたちも直して使いたい物だけを少しづつ増やしていけたらとそんな風に思っています。
When I look at social media, I see jeans lovers from all over the world enjoying various styles of repair.
Hand-stitched repairs, reminiscent of the traditional Japanese “BORO” style, seem to be popular for their unique beauty.

I happened to have a tear in my personal S40’s, so I decided to repair it myself.
The repair method I came up with was inspired by the ancient “kintsugi repair” method mainly used to repair pottery.
I sewed the fabric together using gold thread. It was a repair that paid homage to the original.

I hope that the act of repairing and wearing jeans will make me feel more attached to them.
I would like to keep repairing my favorite gears in my house and living my life surrounded by things I’ve loved and used for a long time.
