First, a new female staff, S-san, joined.
She is the same age as me, and has been in the jeans industry in Kojima for 27 years.
The factory manager has said that it would be nice to have someone to consult with on the same level, so I hope that she will take off some burden of our production manger, Taka’s shoulders. From the first day of joining the company, she made some suggestions about the factory layout, and I hope that she will be able to make use of the know-how and the experience she has gained so far.
I also started sewing at the age of 20, but there were hardly any people in their 20s around me back then.
25 years have passed since I said that it shouldn’t be like this otherwise the JP jeans industry would be dead in 10 years, but I can’t say we’ve suceeded in solving the problem though. To be honest, I don’t really do any sewing tasks anymore, but I want my generations to take the lead, put the spotlight on people who sew, and keep the sewing industry in Japan going for at least as long as I’m alive. That means we still need to create more employment where people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who want to try sewing can gather.
The other person is Hirose-kun, who will be a shop staff member and will likely be interacting with customers a lot. (Only at our store in Japan)
Let’s write that our mission is to keep the sewing industry in Japan going by selling jeans. When talking about sales, we tend to focus on the sales pitch or skills, but at TCB we focus on the people inside and outside the company who make our products. I hope that our colleagues will value how to deliver the products they make without losing their value.
Our sales members also need to have the mindset of “We’re the ones who are going to keep the textile industry alive!” lol
I’ll continue to do things at my own pace, but I want to cherish the flames of the campfire called TCB and make sure that the people who gather around it have fun.
It would be great if the job of making jeans could be a job that protects the people who are important to me.
Well, it’s a little late for a new year’s resolutions, but let’s make 2025 the best year like we did 2024!
