TCBでは久しぶりにモンキーパンツことCrawling Pants を再生産しました。
モンキーを作ろうと思ってVintageを探した10年前でさえ、モンキーパンツの希少性が上がっている事に驚いた事を覚えてるのですが、今だと更に個体の球数は減る一方なのでは無いでしょうか。
復活の理由は完全に思いつきですが、久しぶりにモンキーを作りたくなっただけというシンプルな理由です。
発売した当時も語ってましたが、ミリタリーには納入業者というのが存在して、ミルスペックに属す様に生産するのですが、工場側には多少なりのクリアランスが設けられています。
チノパンの時でも語りましたが、納入業者がTCBの様なワークウエアを作ってる工場であれば必然的にチェーンステッチが多用されたパンツになります。
ですがTCBがやっとの思いで見つけたモンキーパンツは帯はおろか、お尻の巻き縫いもシングルステッチの折り伏せになっています。
もしかするとシャツを縫ってた工場なのかな？とか綺麗目な製品を縫ってた工場に違いないとか、ジーンズの年代特定とはまた違う目線でのリバースエンジニアリングが魅力的でした。

現在すでに製品の生産は完了した上で発表とさせて頂いています。

We have restocked Our Crawling Pants, also known as the Monkey Pants, for the first time in a long time.
Even 10 years ago when I was looking for vintage Monkey Pants for reference, I remember I was quite surprised at how rare Monkey Pants had become, but I think the number of pairs left now is only decreasing.

The reason for reviving them is a pure whim, but it’s for the simple reason that I just wanted to make them again after a long time.
As I mentioned when they were released, there were suppliers for the military, and they should be able to produce to meet the military specifications, but there was some allowance since each factory had a different machines & facilities. I mean if the supplier is a factory that makes workwear like TCB, the pants will inevitably be made with a much use of chain stitch. However, the Monkey Pants that TCB finally found had a single-stitched folded-over seam, not to mention the same construction on the waist band.
Perhaps, the pair we have was made by a factory that used to produce shirts? It was fascinating to see reverse engineering from a different perspective to identify the age of jeans, such as whether the factory must have sewn some tailored products.
