TCB Jeansの井上君は僕の古くからの友人で、こうして一緒に仕事ができるのは、
とても嬉しく、お互いにずっと続けてこれてよかったと思っています。
また、彼が紹介してくれた、’n’ CLOTHINGの古泉さんとの出会いもあり、
より多くの方に、XX DEVELOPMENT を知っていただく機会になりました。

＊はじめましての皆様、こんにちは。突然、こんなのが商品と一緒に入っていたらびっくりですが、
もしよかったら、読んでください。

”別注というのは実はリスペクトや愛が無いといけないと思ってて、
全て修正する必要があるアイテムをベースに別注で作る必要がある？”

って話に、ここだったら素直に書けそうなので、アンサーします。
というか、説明しないと愛がこじれてしまいそうです。笑

これは、縫製業界が○○別注で振り回されるという状態を暗に示しています。
お互いに工場を持つ僕たちは、そこに最大の配慮が必要です。
たとえ、LINEのクマでカラーを決めたとしても、必ず作ってくれるスタッフがいますし、
プロジェクト全体には多くの協力会社があって成立しています。
単に注文を出せば、それで完成。というわけではありません。
別注のリクエストにはさりげないセンスが必要です。

”修正する必要がない”というのは、きっと誉め言葉です。
ただ、大好きって言えない彼が不器用なだけ。笑
僕たちはビンテージをヒントに、プロダクトを磨いて磨いて完成させました。
特にこのアラスカフーディーはチャレンジが多かったので、
同業の2人が認めてくれて、”そのまま別注したい” ってリスペクトは嬉しかったです。

そして、こうしてオーダーをくれた皆様がいて完成させることができます。
きっと井上君や、古泉さんも同じ気持ちだと思う。

I received a LINE message from Taichi, aka PONY from SURE:

“There are words you can’t say when looking at someone. There are words you can’t say when being looked at. So now, I want to entrust my feelings to this letter and convey them.”

Below, I’m sharing the letter he sent me.
I hope you’ll read today’s letter while playing the iconic “16-BAR LOVE SONG” segment from Oshare Kankei as the BGM.

Thank you for ordering the SURE ALASKA custom color.

Inoue-kun from TCB Jeans has been a longtime friend of mine, and being able to work together like this is something I truly cherish. I’m glad that we’ve both stuck with our craft all these years.
Through him, I also had the chance to meet Mr. Koizumi from ’n’ CLOTHING, which has allowed more people to discover XX DEVELOPMENT.

To everyone meeting me for the first time, hello.
If this letter suddenly popped up with your product, it might be a bit surprising. But if you’d like, please give it a read.

“Does creating custom products mean you always have to start by fixing an item that needs improvement? Shouldn’t it be rooted in respect and love?”

This seemed like the perfect place to write an answer to that question. And honestly, if I didn’t explain, things might get complicated!

This comment subtly hints at the state of the sewing industry, often caught up in endless demands for customizations. As factory owners, both Inoue-kun and I understand the utmost importance of consideration in this process.

Even if the color was decided with something as simple as the LINE bear, there are always dedicated staff members who make the product a reality. Not to mention, every project involves numerous partner companies working together. It’s never as simple as just placing an order and having the product magically appear. Custom requests require a subtle sense of taste.

“Not needing any changes” is surely a compliment. But maybe, the person saying it just isn’t great at expressing themselves. (Laughs)

We took inspiration from vintage pieces, refining and polishing our product until it reached completion. This ALASKA hoodie was especially challenging, so having two industry peers recognize it and say, “We want it just as it is” was a deeply appreciated gesture of respect.

And thanks to everyone who placed an order, we were able to complete this piece.
I think Inoue-kun and Koizumi-san probably share this sentiment.
So, on behalf of all of us, thank you so much for your support.

With this, we can keep making clothes again! (Laughs)

Finally, SURE MANUFACTURING has a theme: “Along Be With You.”
It’s our hope that our clothes become everyone’s favorite go-to pieces.

But if possible, we’d love to share stories like this alongside the clothes themselves. That’s why I wrote this letter.

I want you to wear it until it’s thoroughly worn and loved—that’s our slightly persistent expression of affection. (Laughs)
