３年前に青田充弘さんの著書『501XXは誰が作ったのか？』にて存在だけは知ってましたが、まさかお目にかかる事なんて一生無いと思ってたこのLevis OLYMPICレーベルのBrown Denim
もし本を先に読んで無かったら、この染め方には辿り着いて無かったと思います。
このBrown DenimはLogWoodで染めてるっていう事を…..

3 years ago I read this book written by Mitsuhiro Aota (Japanese-only) so I knew a bit about these brown denim jeans of Olympic Brand. But without this book it could have been difficult to know how it was dyed since the logwood dyeing has never been a common or popular method at all.

早速私たちは綿屋さんに、この生地はLogwoodで染めたい旨を伝え、綿選びを始めました。
メインの綿はDENIM同様EMOT（イースト・メンフィス・オーリンズ・テキサスの混綿）を採用し、葉カスを混ぜてる為、ネップの様な表情が有ります。ムラはINDIGOとは一風変わってそんなに強く無いのでコンピューターを使って制御せず、原綿の調合と紡績機械の調整で発生させる自然ムラを採用してます。
糸の番手は、Vintageを参考に たて7.3番　よこ6.7番の12.7ozです。

Right after we got to know how to dye and reproduce this color, we started this project last year. The first step is always to choose the right cotton. The cotton for this big project is EMOT cotton with some leaf dusts so some neppy texture is expected.Looking closely at the irregularity of thread shape, it seems there’s much less strong irregularity compared to the other denim fabric we’ve been working on (more info tomorrow!) so that we don’t use the mainstream way to produce the irregularity, the computer regulation, but go with natural irregularity brought by the spinning techniques and the blend of the cotton.

→ブラウンとホワイトが最も人気の色目となると予想されるが、ブラウンでさえ数ヶ月間は供給が難しくなるだろう。
ブリーチされていないカーキもオーバーオールの人気の色目になってきており、ホワイトも、皆ソックスは白が大好きなように、人気になってきている。長年人気であったインディゴはドイツからの輸入であったが、この度の戦争によりドイツから染料の輸入が不可能になった。ジャマイカから輸入されるログウッド染めが様々な商品に用いられることになるだろう。
