S40’s making

S40’s Making
My personal favorite, the box pleats stitches on the jacket.
We use a piece of sand paper as a guide for the sewing. (Tack, the factory manager, makes all kinds of different ones to make the consistent “irregularity” on the stitch work.)

Looking at the inside of the cuffs, the single stitch line sits a bit off from the edge so that the jointed area of the cuffs will have more room for twists, resulting in more unique fades than the 1st type,I suppose.

The misaligned box stitches look nice.
Before the trimming, it’s easier to figure out where the sewing starts from.

I think sewing persons in Japan, without giving a specific instruction, would match the starting point of the sewing on both right and left body but if you just go for the easiest way, it will look just like the jackets from old days; it starts from the top on the right body and on the other hand, it starts from the bottom on the left.
